Things we don’t talk about

Make no mistake;; no ALWAYS means NO
Whether it is stated once or a thousand times
I am an adult and can admit that there are some occasions where there’s room for negotiations

When I was younger, I made excuses

Now that I’m older
Assault is ASSAULT
I cannot get past the sinister satisfaction in their eyes when they’re being begged to STOP
PLEASE holds no water
The friendliness and kindness go out the window
Dignity is stripped away with your clothes
Panic, fear, and disbelief take over
Not fight or flight
BUT
A sense of helplessness
Abuse of power is ABUSE
It was then, as it is now
